Kyoto is a very special city to visit. It’s so rich in history and culture and it’s almost difficult toΒ not come across a temple or shrine. There are both shinto and buddhist structures, the most famous that you might know is the Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion) and Fushimi Inari Taisha, famous for its hundreds of red tori gates. Kyoto is an excellent place to stay not only for its various attractions but also for it’s proximity to other beautiful cities such as Osaka and Nara. One of the most beautiful places to walk through is Higashiyama and around the temple back streets that stretch from Yasaka Shrine to Kiyomizudera. Along the way you’ll see inviting shops selling Kyoto crafts and sweets, and vendors selling dried fruit and even bbq crab meat sticks. Kinkakuji (the Golden Pavilion) which is famous for its gold leaf exterior is the biggest tourist spot in Kyoto.
